Inspiration
FROM THE FAMOUS (AND NOT SO FAMOUS) Freedom
has always been an expensive thing. Against
naked force the only possible defense is naked force. The aggressor
makes the rules for such a war; the defenders have no alternative
but matching destruction with more destruction, slaughter with greater
slaughter. An
expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made
in a very narrow field. We
can't all be heroes, somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they
go by. Strength
of character may be learned at work, but beauty of character is learned
at home. I've
missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games.
Twenty six times I've been trusted with the game winning shot and
missed. I've failed over and over again in my life. So that is why
I succeed. I
am thankful for the adversities which have crossed my path and taught
me tolerance, perseverance, self-control and some other virtues I
might never have known. "Your
thoughts create your reality...These are the thoughts that create
success!" "Just
don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there
is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong." Be
ready when opportunity comes. Luck is the time when preparation and
opportunity meet.
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing
is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
The fearful are caught as often as the bold.
Great ability develops and reveals itself increasingly with every
new assignment. That
old law about "an eye for an eye" leaves everybody blind.
The time is always right to do the right thing.
That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the
most important of all the lessons that history has to teach.
We must all wage an intense, lifelong battle against the constant
downward pull. If we relax, the bugs and weeds of negativity will
move into the garden and take away everything of value.
Self-assurance is two-thirds of success.
Problems are the learning rungs on the ladder of life.
Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for
tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Rudeness
is a weak man's imitation of strength. Civil
Rights opened the windows. When you open the windows, it does not
mean that everybody will get through. We must create our own opportunities.
We can secure other people's approval, if we do right and try hard;
but our own is worth a hundred of it.
There is more to life than simply increasing its speed. *** Visit T's Corner for Quips and Fun. |
