Welcome!
I'm James, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Tangledwire.com has been a project of mine for some time now. Below is a little background about myself, Tangledwire, and some of my other ventures.
I'm sure you'll have a pleasant experience here, so sit back, relax, and enjoy what I believe is one of the most comprehensive African American experiences on the Web.

In The Beginning...
I was a graphic designer for a non-profit oranization, where for several years, I managed a team that produced books, journals, newsletters and other types of printed material via traditional publishing methods.

Then, during 1996 I began freelancing and subsequently exploring the Web. As the Internet's popularity began to increase, I perceived it as a vehicle to promote my own visual communications business. I soon developed Web design skills (self-taught), founded Tangledwire Internet Ventures, and created Tangledwire.com to promote my business.

In addition to graphic design services, I became adept enough to also add website development as a service, and then created the i-Design area which resides on Tangledwire. I have since produced dozens of web sites for other clients and myself, but now concentrate primarily on my two major sites (Tangledwire.com and ideas4Biz.com.)

A Greater Vision
Late in 1997, Tangledwire's original purpose slowly began to evolve into something other than I intended. When both of my parents passed from cancer (1996-97), I added a bereavement theme to aid people dealing with terminal illnesses. The overall response was encouraging and this prompted me to continue the process of providing other useful information via the Internet. I earnestly began researching, writing, and creating other websites that included beneficial information that people would relate to, worldwide.

Independent Websites (See right sidebar)
As mentioned above, since 1998, I've built various other websites, including ThePoorGuy.com: a condensed employment resource; CommunityUP.com: a community development and human resource site; AJLittle.com: promoting self-assurance and providing self-help and social resources; and Afrohut.com: an online super-mall that I recently discontinued.

We're Back and Untangling the Web
By late 2001, managing the above individual websites became too cumbersome so I decided to merge them all with Tangledwire.com. To do this, I temporarily shut down Tangledwire, and then weaved the best parts of all of the content previously found on my other sites into one large major site. Once completed, the new & improved, and a vastly different Tangledwire was 'back with a BANG' that included a total redesign and a more focused attitude—untangling the Internet and providing a user-friendly information resource for African American's.

Tangledwire–A Warehouse for Information and Links
2002-03. Tangledwire had gone through a major transformation and it was/is well worth it. Fresh ideas, useful tips, and a myriad of information and links encompasses its new design. Tangledwire embodies a solid one-stop quintessential website for African Americans and friends—and you can have a little fun.

And We're Still Growing
As mentioned, Tangledwire now offers much more than ever before! Presently, Tangledwire is flourishing as a multi-resource as it continues to evolve and grow at a steady pace. I like to have a good time with Tangledwire and don't take myself too seriously except when it comes to providing solid content.

Below are a few special areas worth pointing out, and I encourage you to visit them:

  • CommunityUP is the flagship of Tangledwire.com and was created to assist African Americans in all areas and phases of life. It has taken on a life of its own and addresses many relevant social and personal issues. It also includes a self-help area with very useful information and links.

  • Black History. This is an awesome place to visit if you're looking to learn more about the total Black experience, i.e., African American culture, history, heritage, opportunities, and the many successes and achievements of African Americans.

  • T's Corner is one of our most exciting, thought provoking, and fun, areas where visitors can share and read quips, wit, humor, commentaries, true-to-life stories, worthy tips, spiritual & inspirational messages, and revelations. This must see area will have you thinking deeply and often 'laughing out loud'.

Wrapping it up
As you can imagine, a lot of time went in to making Tangledwire a meaningful and purpose-driven site. It's been called "A labor of love", and it certainly is! Even after several years of working it, I am still ecstatic about what it represents and I anticipate much more happening here in the future.

Many thanks for stopping by, and please enjoy all that Tangledwire has to offer.

Peace and God Bless!

James Morton

Tangledwire.com
(1996-Present
) Initially introduced as a means to promote my commercial art business, Tangledwire has s
ince evolved, now containing many of my sites below that were previously stand-alone dot-coms.

AfroHut.com
(2001) Publicized as a Super Community Outlet, AfroHut.com provided a wide selection of music, electronics, computers, videos,
magazines, games, & DVDs, at very attractive prices! Although it made money, I discontinued the site because of the time commitment.

AJLittle.com
(2000) Created exclusively for African Americans, it included self-help, job info, and much of the info that is now on Tangledwire. It was created to help us learn more about ourselves, our culture and our history. No longer active, its ideology continues here on Tangledwire!

CommunityUP.com
(1999) Originally, it had a HR flavor whose purpose was to provide professional resources to help assist the currently unemployed and those who have never worked. Now, it encompasses a wide variety of social topics and can be found here on Tangledwire.
SEE IT NOW

ThePoorGuy.com
(1998) With hundreds of job sites on the Internet, I created ThePoorGuy.com to narrow them down to the sites that I thought were most appropriate. ThePoorGuy.com is inactive, but much of its information can now be found in CommunityUP.

Bereavement Page
(1997) After the death of my parents, I added this page in their memory because readily available information on the subject was, and is still, lacking. This area is intended to be a concise guide with useful tips and information for those struggling with the fate of terminally ill loved ones.

i-Design
(1996) I included a web design service as part of my graphic art studio that still produces various traditional publishing services and websites by request.
